I did find that Carla Morans' real name is Doris Bither, and she is a real person.
I am willing to concede 'Carla Moran' a.k.a Doris Bither was a real person, however it seems much of the story surrounding The Entity is unsubstantiated and it also seems a lot of misinformation about who witnessed what has been written on the internet.
The real-life Carla Moran's teenage son described a particularly vicious attack in which Carla was thrown by the malevolent force and hit her head.

That person appears to be quite close to the camera, much closer than 'Carla' who is sitting on the bed.

Carla Moran had the best opportunity to score for Leinster but her effort was aimed straight at the Munster keeper.
The second half was a completely different story, Wendy McGlone pounced on a loose pass in the Munster defence to blast her effort into the roof of the net from 20 yards to level the scores after ten minutes of the second period.
Ulster whose interest had ended in the competition after their initial two defeats to Munster and Connacht, were to be the final opponents for a Leinster side requiring a shed load of goals to ensure the title would be returning to Leinster this season.

Carla's kids and eventually her doubting best friend see the "weird stuff" as well, which makes us wonder why Dr. Phil wasn't asked to hang around and watch the light show.
Her terror during the attacks is as credible as her trepidation when trying to describe them to doubting doctors, and she keeps Carla Moran's experience on a plane much higher than the voyeuristic peep-show around her.

 When Ghosts Attack
For Carla Moran, a single mother with four children living in California in the mid-1970s, nothing seemed random about the repeated and apparently violent attacks that, like Mary's, felt like rape.
Carla was initially accosted by what she perceived as three entities — two holding her down while the third assaulted her.
The experiences reported by Carla and Mary are similar to other reports of attacks by unknown forces having sexual or rape-like characteristics.

Bryan also enquired about hardship waivers and Moran stated that FERC had granted very few, and all were opposed by "the other side." Rep. Shimkus (R-IL) clarified that the refund issue was created by a change in the legal classification of the tax.
Moran also stated that at the time, producers "followed orders." He said that while the "windfall is minimal" the "penalty is large." While maintaining that no penalty should be imposed, Moran said H.R. 1117 "attempts to strike a compromise" by allowing for collection of the principal but not the interest.
Moran added that the state of Colorado originally perceived itself to be "a winner", but now sees that it will owe more than it will gain and is joining the state of Kansas in opposing the tax refund and supporting H.R. Chairman Barton asked Moran what allocation formula his bill provides for.
