Carlin Motorsport, founded in 1996 by Trevor Carlin and Martin Stone, entered the highly regarded British Formula 3 Championship in 1997 and soon began to put the necessary structure in place to run a race winning team in 1999.
No later than 1998, Carlin were voted ‘Team of the Year' by the Formula 3 Association for their high standards of presentation and achievements with Narain Karthikeyan.
Two years later Carlin Motorsport secured 11 front row positions and 8 race wins thanks to drivers Ben Collins, Narain Karthikeyan and Takuma Sato, the later finishing 3rd overall in the British Formula 3 Championship.

Michael's move to Carlin Motorsport followed intense discussions with team principal Trevor Carlin which began immediately after the Scholarship F3 race winner impressed in one of the outfit's Honda powered Dallara F301.
Carlin Motorsport is the top team and this is the move I wanted.
Carlin Motorsport were impressive winners of the 2001 Green Flag British Formula 3 Championship with Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson winning 18 of the 26 races.

We hear that the onset of the new Midland F1 team will mean some changes at Carlin Motorsport in the months ahead.
There are rumours that the team's head of engineering Anthony Hyatt is to start his own Formula 3 operation (possibly with Carlin equipment) which will be backed by Kimi Raikkonen, the intention being to run a two-car team with Mercedes-Benz engines in the British Formula 3 series.
Nor is there any word on drivers but we would imagine that Anthony Davidson would be high on the Carlin list as a successful Carlin driver in the past and a hugely experienced F1 test driver with BAR-Honda.

Bakkerud is driving for the Carlin squad in the british F3 International Series and has been putting on a good show in the five driver strong team.

To cap that, Charlie Kimball (Carlin Motorsport) was starting from 5th, so the odds on the two of them being able to grab the first two places seemed rather slimmer than in previous races.

The Carlin Motorsport driver set a time of 1:14.838, which put him just a fraction ahead of the Estonian Hitech Racing driver.

Top Irish international racing driver Michael Keohane, from Clonakilty, Co. Cork, rejoins Carlin Motorsport this weekend (24/25th April) when he makes his debut in the high profile Nissan World Series at Zolder in Belgium.
