Australian Bureau of Statistics data from the 2001 census records the population of Carlingford as 19,678 residents, with a gender mix of 49% males and 51% females in line with the rest of the Australian population.
The population of Carlingford, as with the rest of the relatively affluent northern Sydney, tend to hold conservative values and this is reflected in the popular vote.

The third line is the Airport Line, which opened in the year 2000, just in time for the Sydney Olympics.

The Epping to Chatswood line (originally to be the Parramatta Rail Link) is a railway line under construction in the Northern suburbs of Sydney, Australia.
This required the elimination of the planned station at the University of Technology, Sydney, Kuring-gai Campus; the required increased depth of the tunnel to go under the river made a station at that point impractical, due to the required depth of the escalator shafts.
The railway line was originally intended to continue from Epping to Parramatta, partially travelling along the existing Carlingford railway line, Sydney surface line which would be widened from single-track to dual-track.

A spur line from Clyde to the State Brickworks was built in 1911, with a private platform at Pippita to service the state abattoirs.
In 1911, a line to the State Brickworks was added, and near Lidcombe the goods line to Enfield which opened in 1916 also came off the main line.

There are some other oddities of the naming of the tables: the western line is referred to as the Emu Plains line and the current south lines as the Macarthur lines, curious as these two stations are the minor end stations with a relatively lower service level than say Campbelltown or Penrith.
However the Blue Mountains line is not the Lithgow line, but the Southern Highlands line is the Goulburn Line.
Of note: the North Shore line table is pink despite being red/ yellow on maps, station signs etc, and is of large size.

The problem with trains passing eachother on the line is that departure times from Clyde can't be guaranteed because the Carlingford train is held up to make the connection with the corresponding down west or south train...
Turning the Carlingford line into a busway was one of the options canvassed in that report.
Protection on the line is only by axle counters at Rosehill which work on the principle that the same number of axles must return from Carlingford as entered there last time before a train is allowed to go back beyond Rosehill again.

The square crossing is where the line to Greenore crossed the Dublin line afaik, so the old station was down near the old railway works so.
The latter junction is where Antrim line branches off and until the 1950's the Banbridge line branched off the Belfast line.
Looking on the right hand side of the line as you head north, there is a red brick house immediately after the 2nd road bridge out of the present station.

In 1950, it was decided to electrify the difficult double-track section of line over the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney to allow for the more efficient haulage and expansion of coal from the rich western coal fields.
The western line as far as the pioneer suburb of Parramatta had been electrified in 1929 and the next 20 miles to Penrith, at the foot of the Blue Mountains, originally opened in 1858, was electrified in 1954/55, allowing suburban electric trains to serve this route.
To cater for this added strain on the electric train fleet of some 1200 cars, and also to accommodate future expansion both in electrified lines elsewhere in Sydney and also increasing passenger demand (presently 268 million passengers per annum in Sydney), a need for additional cars was realised.

The Carlingford line runs from Clyde on the main western line to the north western suburb of Carlingford.
It is unusual in that is single line, and only sees short electric trains, due to the reduced power capacity of the overhead.
There are currently firm plans to extend this line east to Chatswood, forming another loop line, and west directly to Parramatta.

Opened as a private Railway in 1892, this line which branched from the Carlingford line before Camellia became part of the Government Railways in the early 1900's.
With the rationalisation of Rosehill Racecourse in the early 1990's, Rosehill became the effective junction for the Carlingford Line with Sandown as a branch line.
Passenger trains can still be seen on the line as they are sometimes stabled there during Rosehill Racecourse meetings.

Carlingford is just over an hours drive from its' two capital cities & less than an hours flight from anywhere in the UK.
Follow signs to Carlingford - there is just one left turn to do just 2 miles before you get to Carlingford but it is well signposted.
You will know when you enter Carlingford - King John's Castle will be dominating the skyline to your left along with the harbour.
