Fontana's elder brother Giovanni, instead, is credited for having supervised the making of the Aqua Felix aqueduct and for having cooperated with Flaminio Ponzio for the making of the huge Acqua Paola fountain on the Janiculum hill.
Carlo added a basin to the Acqua Paola fountain, and slightly altered the old one before Santa Maria in Trastevere; he is also often credited for the second fountain in St. Peter's square, although this is controversial, as some reliable scholars maintain that Bernini was the actual maker.
His son Carlo (1611-1691) at first cooperated with Girolamo in the making of the Palazzo Nuovo, on the Capitolium, then worked alone on the façade of Sant'Andrea della Valle, drew the project for the twin churches of piazza del Popolo, but he did not build any fountain.

Fontana was trained in philosophy and music, but even as a young composer, he was less interested in creating traditional musical composition than in exploring musical form in everyday sound.
Fontana acknowledges the influence of Zen Bhuddism and John Cage, who defined music as a state of mind, on his thinking of the time, as well as the influence of minimalist composers, such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Terry Riley.
Fontana, however, exploits sound's capacity to elicit visual imagery through memory and knowledge, even as he creates a tension caused by the disjunction of what is heard and what is seen.

The Italian architect Carlo Maderno (1556-1629) was the creator of the early baroque style in architecture.
Carlo Maderno was born at Capolago on Lake Lugano.
But, Della Porta made a more complex design in which no really dominant accent is felt: Maderno returned to the concept of a facade as something simple but building up to a climax at the center, and he used both sculpture and decorative elements to create a simple, uncluttered, but rich impression.

Much dust needs to settle before we are likely to reach a full understanding of what happened (though it is clear that the firing of general manager Carlo Fontana was the trigger), and before we can arrive at any insight into what happens next either for La Scala or for Muti himself.
It was essentially Carlo Fontana’s efforts to popularize La Scala through the injection of lighter repertoire bordering on crossover that brought him and Muti into conflict.
One may reasonably feel that financial viability ought to be among the criteria for the selection of repertoire, but it is no less arguable that artistic compromise leads inevitably to artistic mediocrity, and in setting his face against any step in that direction Muti is not throwing tantrums; he is simply standing on principle.
