PITTSBURGH, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Carlow University has learned today that one charge in a federal indictment charges Dr. Cyril Wecht with violations of state law (Second Class County Code), alleging that in the course of his teaching at Carlow, Dr. Wecht used cadavers in a way that was not permitted by law.
Carlow provided facilities to Dr. Wecht for the purpose of teaching autopsy procedure as part of the course of instruction in the University's forensic sciences program.
Carlow believed that Dr. Wecht was acting lawfully and that the autopsies performed were part of his private practice and had no relationship to his duties as County Coroner.
