Carlton Ernest Fisk (born December 26, 1947 in Bellows Falls, Vermont) is a former Major League Baseball catcher who played for 24 years with the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox.
This being the case, Fisk graduated from Charlestown High School then was a starter on the basketball team at the University of New Hampshire in addition to playing baseball.
Fisk was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000 choosing the Boston Red Sox cap for his plaque, although he played for more seasons with the Chicago White Sox.

Fisk grew up in New England (Charlestown, New Hampshire) and is best known for waving his home run fair off of the Reds' Pat Darcy to win Game Six of the 1975 World Series - one of the most dramatic moments in the game's history, and perhaps the most memorable image in baseball's TV era.
Fisk didn't play his first full season until age 24, but still set major league records for most games caught (2,226), most home runs by a catcher (351), most home runs after the age of 40 (72) and most games, hits and at-bats for a catcher.
Fisk played 11 years in Boston before signing as a free agent in 1981 with the Chicago White Sox, for whom he played 13 years and retired as the franchise's all-time home run leader.

Munson was a better hitter for average, but in all other aspects of the game, Fisk was clearly superior- especially overall defense and speed, for a catcher, Fisk was relatively quick and mobile.
Fisk is the second best catcher ever behind bench he was a clutch performer who could control a game as a catcher.
Unfortunately for Carlton, he'll always be the bridesmaid to Bench's bride.
