While Appice and Bogert were in the lineup, Cactus charted with four albums between 1970 and 1972, most successfully the debut, Cactus.
Appice was a member of the supergroup KGB, who featured Ray Kennedy, Rick Grech, Mike Bloomfield, and Barry Goldberg, and made one charting album in 1976.

Carmine: It wasn’t tough as we were originally going to do an album like Santana and feature different singers but our manager could never get us the right deal so it went on the back burner.
Carmine: That was way back in the early 70's and when they said that Led Zeppelin was not what they are now.
Carmine: We wrote the songs and then I sat back and thought, "Who would play good on this song?" I had some commitments from Ted Nugent, Brian May and the guys from Kings X. I knew they would be a drawing card for other guitar players.

Appice, whose career has spanned over five decades working with some of the most prestigious names in the industry, including Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, PINK FLOYD, as well as a ten-year stint with Rod Stewart and his own aggregations, including CACTUS, BLUE MURDER, and DBA.
Appice, who was the first-ever drummer from the rock world to hold an authorized drum clinic, will then embark on a series of Slingerland-sponsored clinics to trump not only his new association with the company, but to raise funds for charity.

When Vanilla Fudge split, bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice remained together, forming a band called "Cactus", before abandoning their creation in favour of Beck, Bogert and Appice, along with Jeff Beck.
Appice also did a lot of session work, recording often with Rod Stewart.

 Review of Ultimate Play-Along Drum Trax: Carmine Appice
Carmine Appice, whose regularly updated book Realistic Rock has influenced multiple generations of rock drummers, has put together a book and CD based on seven of his favorite songs from a prior project known as Guitar Zeus.
This one opens with Carmine playing a swing-like groove with brushes and then, using sticks, he gets into a funk-rock groove in 4/4 and 5/4 time, taking it out with a syncopated groove in 3/4.
Carmine moves back and forth between 4/4 and 3/4 time in this one with a section that creates the illusion of slowing down the tempo through the use of various time signatures and added rests, while actually remaining in perfect time.

Where Corky Laing's Making It on the Street album from four years earlier revealed a drummer being a minstrel, surprising those who knew that player by the hard rock he was associated with, Appice had dipped into enough other bags that this highly experimental rock record fit his pattern.
Appice calls his band here the Rockers, and guitarist Danny Johnson adds significant crunch to his co-write, "Sweet Senorita." Whatever shortcomings the original material may have, the enthusiasm and spirit bring things up a notch; the session definitely sounds like it was fun.
For those who wished Phil Collins stayed behind the skins, Carmine Appice by Carmine Appice and Making It on the Street by Corky Laing display creativity by men who like to beat on things and who didn't get overexposed on the Top 40.

Beck Bogert Appice was the only album widely released by its title team.
Jeff Beck had wanted to work with Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice (previously with Vanilla Fudge) for at least two years before they finally got together.
When Beck, Bogert and Appice were all finally available at the same time, they got together and recorded this sturdy album, released in 1973, which did quite respectably at the time.
