Carnival Boy Reviews   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-07-07)
Album cover instructions to "Play Loud!" usually deserve to be disregarded as empty displays of attitude.
Listen to "Carnival Boy's" almost Western guitar opening, suggesting wide expanses; the soaring, climactic solo; the heavy, assured drums; and all of it topped with a thin coating of organ.
Other songs on the album suggest the cinema as well, not for their breadth but for their snippet-like quality.

 Feeding Frenzy Carnival Page
What's most hopeful, however, is that the album actually comments on something — too politely, perhaps, but at the very least accusingly — of both those who blindly stumble into island fever and the locals who aim to perpetuate it.
Highlights of the album, which features Buffett as Paperman and members of his Coral Reefer Band in supporting roles, are a dry salute to Paperman's former profession (Public Relations), a free-wheeling calypso tribute to a Caribbean stew (Calaloo), a character-rich, languorous anti-love song (Sheila Says) and a hummable island march (1,000 Steps).
Perhaps Don't Stop the Carnival will actually make it to Broadway, as the record label insists it is being readied for "early next year." Even if it doesn't, Buffett has an album of songs that can be enjoyed independently of the show.

DOA Unappreciated Album of the Month - Carnival Art, Welcome to Vas Llegas   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-07-07)
Carnival Art is a perfect example of an incredibly talented guitar rock band that simply got lost in the alterna-fad of the early 90's.
Why Carnival Art didn't get more attention commercially is beyond me, although I have to admit that this record might not have been 'grunge' enough for the scene at the time.

The KISS F.A.Q. - The KISS Album Focus: Carnival Of Souls © Julian Gill   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-07-07)
"Carnival Of Souls" is, if anything, the album where Bruce Kulick was finally allowed to shine, not only as a guitarist, a role in which he'd been shining since 1985, but as a song-writer and singer with his debut lead vocal on "I Walk Alone".
Regardless, the omission of the song from the album pretty much meant that there was yet another track for the box set that was expected to be released at some point in the future.
Finally, after a long delay "Carnival Of Souls" was released on October 28, 1997 with a slightly modified title, "Carnival Of Souls: The Final Sessions" which laid to rest the final recording of the 1992-6 lineup.

Album Review ANNIHILATOR-Carnival Diablos :: Maelstrom :: Issue No 2
The main problem with the album is that the song structures and arrangements are too simple.
The coherent nature of what the singer is saying leave the songs open to more criticism, as sometimes the listener's attention is drawn away from the song to focus on something silly and cliché in the lyrics.
Overall, the singing style and delivery on this album can most be compared to present day Testament, but less throaty overall and without the gruff parts.

 Carnival in Coal
A few years and an outstanding demo tape later, their much awaited debut album "Vivalavida" was released by War on Majors.
Hailed by French critics and most warmly welcomed by the public, CARNIVAL IN COAL quickly stroke back with a tribute album destined to enlarge their audience in Europe and the rest of the world ("French Cancan", released in November 1999).
The German and Austrian metal heads in particularly are fond of this album, and "French Cancan" paved the way for the duet's inevitable new baby, the multi-facetted "Fear Not Carnival in Coal", to be released on the 2nd of July.

You've obviously made an effort -- not just on your solo albums, but with the albums you produce, the people you work with, the people you play with -- to not limit yourself to the world of hip-hop when you look for collaborators.

AMON DÜÜL II Carnival in Babylon reviews
Dominated by delicious musical parts of the two guitarists and gentle vocal melodies, this album deserves a good mark in Amon Duul II career, showing to the public an other side of their music, less experimental and complex but a nice and efficient psych/ folk rock music.
This album (the band's fourth) is a completely different affair than the three that preceded it, in that it begins to focus more on songwriting, vocal work, and a degree of cohesion; as opposed to turning all the amplifiers up to 11 and freaking out for entire album sides (which is equally delightful, of course).
As you would expect this album is full of creativity and progressive originality and if you listen real carefully you will hear things you have not ever before.

Zen Carnival's material captures the mystical atmosphere found in the wonderful music of Genesis, Yes, Rush, and Pink Floyd, but with a modern sound that incorporates elements of grunge, techno, avant-garde, and 20th century classical music.

 Wyclef Jean Presents The Carnival
Even this early in the album, it's clear that Wyclef is a decent emcee in his own right, even away from the Fugees.
Wyclef shocked me. This album didn't just surprise me by not being lame, it turned out to be absolutely excellent, easily rivaling (perhaps surpassing) the previous Fugees effort, The Score (which itself probably would've probably made my list for the Top Ten albums of '96).

The Carnival Bizarre is a bit of an annoying album because it contains some of Cathedral's most hard hitting, best overall songs, and alongside them some of the most annoying, long, pieces of shit as well.
These tracks, as well as a couple others on the album are tight, strong and have riffs in them that are the band's best to date.
Two terrible songs, "Night of the Seagulls" and "Inertia's Cave" are poorly placed near the middle of the album, both are quite long, and both are so goddamn annoying that I rarely make it past the first one to hear the rest of the disc.

Amy Correia CD review of Carnival Love on AudioRevolution.com
The album is full of music that features only her voice and extremely sparse instrumentation, consisting mainly of acoustic guitar, ukulele and an occasional piano, drum set, bass and string section.
Needless to say, the songs that stand out on the album for me just happen to be the ones that were produced by Thorn.
Amy Correia obviously left a great amount of the creative control of the songs to the respective producers and it is refreshing to actually hear the variations in the individual tracks depending on who is pulling the string behind the scenes.

The songs on "Carnival" tell the stories of different individuals including the story of two time-pressed tourists who are immediately recognized by their more casual French in "Paris in a Day".
The one distracting aspect of "Carnival" is placing the final song "Ghosts" as an unlabelled bonus track at the end of a reprise chorus of the opener "Midnight Strikes Too Soon".

Rothery has since revealed that the early albums by Joni Mitchell were very influential on him when writing for this album, especially on “Hall of memories” and “Fire bright”.
The album is very vocal, with Rothery’s guitar work filling out the sound rather than dominating it.
For me, the album is a bit too vocal, it would have been preferable if Rothery had used the opportunity to develop his excellent guitar work on the album more.

Review: Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band, Hang Up Sorrow And Care - Paul Grzelak   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-07-07)
Maddy Prior, the lead vocalist for Steeleye Span, is in fine voice, and the Carnival Band is ready with a rather diverse collection of instruments (everything from the lute to the kazoo, the recorder to the electric guitar, etc.) The combination creates a rather bright and cheerful album.
There is the unusual instrumentation of the Carnival Band that reminds this critic slightly of Gryphon.
The vocals of Maddy Prior are raised in a number of a capella tunes, sung in rounds with the gentlemen of the Carnival Band.
