We finally arrived in Salisbury, MD in time to register for camping places for Carol and me. Once we figured out that the map which was sent with the registration had its directions reversed, we even found the Salvation Army ball field where we were to camp.

A stage hit in 1960 (and later a lively film musical), Bye Bye Birdie was Broadway's first real attempt to find common ground with rock 'n' roll and its culture.
Because original cast albums didn't exist at the time, the first recording of songs from the show stems from the 1932 revival, which starred original cast member Helen Morgan (as Julie, she once again stopped the show with her gut-wrenching rendition of "Bill") and Paul Robeson, producer Flo Ziegfeld's initial choice for Joe.
In 1946, another revival of the show, this one produced by Oscar Hammerstein II, yielded Columbia's first cast album, featuring Jan Clayton, Carol Bruce, Charles Fredericks and Kenneth Spencer in the lead roles.
