Sager's partnership with Bacharach was among the most fruitful of her lengthy career.
In 1991, however, Sager and Bacharach divorced; she was relatively quiet in the years to follow, most notably writing songs for films including Beethoven's 2nd and Junior.

Sager next worked with husband, Marvin Hamlisch, on the Broadway musical They're Playing Our Song, which may have had some autobiographical content exploring the romantic entanglements of a songwriting team.
Later, Carole and Marvin were nominated for an Oscar nomination their song "Nobody Does It Better," -the theme of the James Bond movie thriller The Spy Who Loved Me In 1981, Sager's third LP Sometimes Late at Night, had her biggest solo hit, - the single "Stronger Than Before".

Carole Bayer Sager : Carole Bayer Sager - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
This is actually an extraordinary album by the veteran songwriter who hit as far back as 1966 with "A Groovy Kind of Love." The little granny voice of Carole Bayer Sager is full of soul and passion -- so pure and fragile, it is a shame it never got to dominate the charts.
Sager co-wrote Midnight Blue, Manchester's breakthrough hit on Arista, but "Home to Myself" was on the Bell imprint, presumably when Larry Uttall ran the label prior to Clive Davis coming onboard.
A songwriter is who she is, and her voice on this disc may not be as powerful as Carole King, Melissa Manchester, or as unique asMidler's, but she can move you.
