Carrbrook is an area in the east of Stalybridge, Cheshire.
Modern Housing estates were built next to the old village on the lower flank of Harridge Pike from the 1970s.
Carrbrook Heritage Trail a local history project commissioned on behalf of the British National Lottery heritage fund by the Carrbrook Heritage Group.

 CARRBROOK BOWLING CLUB
Carrbrook Village is a good example of a small factory village of the nineteenth century.
In 1988 the Friends of Carrbrook was formed, who restored the bowling green, which was reopened by Cncllr Ivy Robinson on Friday 17th April 1992.
The final result was 18 for A. Kirk of Buckton Vale Works who received a 25 piece Phoenix dinner service and 21 for P Woodhouse of Strines who received the Silver Challenge Cup and a gold watch, both young men at the time.

 New Forest Brass Band - Report
If you've not previously heard of Carrbrook Band, they're from the the Tameside area of Greater Manchester, the nearest large town being Stalybridge.
As part of the twinning programme, Carrbrook band have been taking part in the festival for several years.
I must take this oportunity to thank all of those people that were involved in the organisation and running of the event (Mark, Katherine, Bernard and Ruth, to name but a few), and to those that were kind enough to invite me along to what was a really enjoyable weekend.

Although we did not win any prizes it is rumoured that we were only beaten in the deportment prize by Cheshire constabulary, who tend to win deportment wherever they go.
Carrbrook next, always five or more bands in front of us here we must get a rest this time.
We arrive at Carrbrook and are told to line up straight away, were on next, another good performance seven venues and still only 8:00 p.m.

 CARRBROOK WHIT FRIDAY BAND CONTEST
Brass bands have been an established form of music-making in Britain for well over 100 years and, although there has been little attempt to document its colourful and rich history, Tameside is one of the strongholds of the brass band tradition with successful bands such as Carrbrook Brass Band.
The committee decided that these funds would be shared amongst all the youth bands that attended the Carrbrook contest.
This year only 2 youth bands attended the Carrbrook contest and so the £250 was split equally between Mossley Hollins School Band and Chorley Silver Youth.

This would also simplify the transport arrangements, as we met at the Standedge car park, drove to Carrbrook (near Mossley) and left one of the cars then returned to Standedge before commencing the walk.
It was a little bit tricky to find the route through Carrbrook, but after a few minutes checking, I was climbing up the lane which takes you to the Tameside Trail up Slatepit Moor.
There was much relief that the weather looked so good: cold but plenty of sunshine, and it was a delight to be back on the trail after such a long time.

 Stalybridge Country Park - Tameside
The country park is situated a mile to the North East of Stalybridge centre, and divided into two main sections, Brushes Valley and Carrbrook.

 Millbrook Great War Project
In World War One, Millbrook was an isolated village, with neighbours Carrbrook and Heyheads even further away from the centre of Stalybridge.
In 1911, there were 1,400 males in these areas, and, of those, at least 108 soldiers were killed or died as a result of the War.
