Carrick struggled to break down the Institute defence in the second half and it was the home side who scored a third goal minutes from the end to make the final score 3-0, and pick up a deserved 3 points.
Carrick came out in the second half and dominated play and deservedly equalised when a high punt upfield from Paul McKane found Neil Corr, the striker lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net.

Carrick were frustrated on several occassions by the brilliance of keeper Brian Hutchinson, who has replaced Stuart Addis who was recalled to Glenavon because of suspension.
City had very few chances though a City win would probably have been unfair on Carrick but we defended superbly and gained a creditable draw, and leave us with the 3rd best defensive record in the league and having only conceded 1 goal in the last 5 league matches.

With just under two minutes of the game played, it was Carrick’s number 10 who had the first chance to fire in a shot.
O’Kane stepped up to curl the ball with pinpoint accuracy, and just as it looked as though the ball was going into the top corner, out of nowhere appeared the Carrick keeper to superbly turn the ball round the post.
