Spinney, the voice of Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch and one of two remaining original performers from the long-running public television show, was warmly received, with the controversy that swirled last month around his selection as the university’s commencement speaker seemingly forgotten.
Spinney received a loud ovation from the Class of 2004 when he stepped to the podium to receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, and an even louder one when he jokingly greeted the crowd in Big Bird’s unmistakable voice.
Spinney advised the 1,550 undergraduate and 250 graduate-degree recipients in Villanova’s Class of 2004 to do their part for humanity, but to be sure to do things for themselves as well.

Big Bird (Spinney), as we all know, is a six-year old, eight-foot tall, bright yellow bird who lives happily on Sesame Street.
I would hope that WB would have a higher standard of quality for their products, but then again, the other DVDs of theirs that I have seen (like Arthur and Heist, to name two off the top of my head) were equally lacking in features, so maybe I’m just expecting too much from them.
