Cars Movie Review at Hollywood Video
Owen Wilson's lazy, surfer's voice is pitch-perfect for Lightning McQueen, a rookie race car and upcoming star on the circuit who hopes to trade the Rust-eze sponsor that greased his advancement to the top for the tonier Dinoco.
The car is talented all right, but he's also obnoxious, arrogant, and virtually friendless, except for Mack (John Ratzenberger), the big rig that carts him from track to track.
Cars is all of the above, but goes one better: It's a movie treat for car-buff moms and dads to watch with their kids.

Flipside Movie Emporium: Cars Movie Review
It pulls out an entertaining Pixar movie: a movie that, while hardly the cream of the studio's crop, can at least be placed within shouting distance of Toy Story and Finding Nemo without setting the movie gods' teeth on edge.
Car nuts will revel at the loving care with which each one is rendered, as well as the throwaway jokes centered on creeping rust, whitewall tires, and the NASCAR circuit (among other subjects).
The town's resident cars are largely forgotten by the outside world, but their folksy pleasantness and laid-back ways have an effect on McQueen's me-first demeanor.

The vast majority of the principal characters from the movie, as well as their associated voice actors, are on hand here for an entirely original tale that sees Lightning working his way through the new racing season against his rival, Chick Hicks (voiced to twitchy perfection by Michael Keaton).
The cars are extremely expressive with their facial animations, and the lip-synching is more spot-on than most games starring humans.
Though Cars will almost certainly take you well under 10 hours to complete, there's two-player multiplayer to mess with, as well as some bonus materials to check out, and those pesky achievements which, while attainable by playing through the normal course of the game, can't be collected in a quick-and-dirty fashion.

 Movie Review: Cars | texasgigs.com
Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs.
Cars is Lasseter’s ode to many things: to cars themselves, auto racing, taking the long way.
That’s why Cars is a worthy addition to the pantheon of Pixar films, which is itself an animation hall of fame.

Cars Movie Review (Owen Wilson) Empire Movies
Cars takes us into the world of the animated stock car where the self-centered Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is in a three-way battle for the coveted Piston Cup.
With Cars, however, it is the charm of the characters, the genuinely funny moments and the lessons to be learned that makes this movie a gem.
The movie also has a not-so-subtle message about life in the old days when things were simple and everyone knew each other's names.

CARS is far from being in racing trim, poking along at almost two hours in length.
The surprise of the movie is that (almost?) the largest number of the lines go to Larry The Cable Guy as a redneck tow truck named Tow Mater, or just Mater for short.
Everyone and everything in the movie are made from cars, and the most surprising of these are the horseflies, which are really little car flies.

Kurt Russell: Used Cars - Movie
The only problem with the film, and it's a fairly big one, is the final twenty minutes which dissolves into an uninspired car chase across the desert and a tacked on "happy" ending.
Still, "Used Cars" is really funny and for those of you over 18 (this is not for the kids), a really enjoyable experience.
The secondary roles are the glue that holds Used Cars together (particularly the guys from Laverne and Shirley, and ridiculously superstitious character).

Cars - Movie Info - My Way Movies
"Cars" suffers from the same deficiency - while it's a technically perfect movie, its tone is too manic, its characters too jaded and, in the end, its story too empty to stand up to expectations.
The blame, it must be said, lies partly on the casting director who plucked Owen Wilson from his perfectly successful string of lad flicks and placed the burden of this movie square atop his goofy blond head.
(Newman, himself a race car driver, phones it in, perhaps recognizing a substandard script just a little bit too late.) Tony Shalhoub is the film's primary bright spot, bringing his deliciously wry delivery to an Italian car-as-tire-salesman prone to overheating.

A hotshot red stock car who means to be the next superduper champion, he's focused narrowly on what's just ahead of him: the next turn, the next opponent, the next winner's circle.
As the movie begins, he hits the track, cheered on by an adoring throng of other cars in the stands, as well as the pit crew, announcers (Bob Cutlass/Bob Costas and Darrell Cartrip/Darrel Wartrip), TV camera operators, and vendors.

Like those movies, "Cars" does this with a plot whose finish line can be seen miles away.
One of the hidden pleasures of "Cars" is the gradual realization that our journey as an audience is more like McQueen's than we want to admit, that what is happening to Lightning is happening to us as well.
"Cars" is not only in love with cars, it's also mad about the American West in general and the romance of Route 66, the legendary Mother Road, in particular.

MovieFreak.com - "Cars" Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Much more thin and glossy than usual for Pixar, and fresh off their success on the complex characterizations and family dynamics in “The Incredibles,” this one can’t help but be a little disappointing.
The film is a feast for the eyes exploding the conventions of what is possible inside the workings of an animated feature taking inanimate objects that should have no personality and making them become believable living breathing characters a person can’t wait to spend some time with.
“Cars” might not be the studio’s best, but it’s still entertaining, and like a Monster Truck jam at your local speedway it’s a down and dirty giggle crafting delight that can’t help but be on sensational guilty pleasure.

In Cars, "family" is represented by the almost-ghost town of Radiator Springs, a former hot spot along historic Route 66, now ignored by tourists and travelers alike, thanks to the superhighway that bypasses the town.
Nothing in Cars breaks Hollywood's fish-out-of-water format — there's Sally, the strong, sexy Porsche 911 Carrera (Bonnie Hunt) who serves in the "we-can't-stand-each-other" romantic-redeemer role, and there's Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), a wise old Hudson Hornet with a past he'd prefer not to talk about and a crotchety tough-love attitude toward McQueen (read: father figure).

Lightning McQueen, the star of the movie "Cars," is a Pixar design rather than being representative of any specific real-life car.
Movie director John Lasseter knew from the beginning that he wanted a Porsche in the movie.
Indeed, the ruthless Chick Hicks character in "Cars" is a generic Pixar design—roughly "a stock 1980s American car" and not an identifiable make and model of car, according to Pixar publicity coordinator Amanda Sorena.

If Cars has shown us anything about Pixar's future, it is that there is not only plenty of gas in the tank, but miles and miles and smooth pavement ahead.
