A Carshalton break from defence moments later saw Saunders stretching to steer wide of the target and Cyrus followed up by forcing Matthews to parry his first-time volley.
Carshalton brought on two youth team players for the final ten minutes and one of them, Lewis Bajeux, found himself cautioned for a rash tackle on Charlie Welch who was also booked for reacting to the foul.

Carshalton were thankful for their reserve keeper again on 57 minutes when County when a corner from left channel by O'Sullivan was only half cleared allowing Jones to direct a low shot which was blocked by the keeper and he managed to recover to palmed away a shot from the rebound by Harrhy.
Carshalton were rewarded for their persistence with crosses on 66 minutes when a free kick on the left channel appeared to get caught on the wind and with nobody prepared to take responsibility to ball curled into the right corner of the net.

Carshalton continued to push players to supplement their direct approach but as a result County had a chance on the break especially from the right channel but they showed little conviction in getting forward quickly and were caught in possession.
Carshalton worked hard to stifle County and often pushed the limits the law with pulling and pushing that was deemed acceptable by a lenient referee.
