I thank the electors of Carshalton and Wallington for electing me and for putting their trust in me, as other hon.
Carshalton and Wallington is in the London borough of Sutton which has been Liberal Democrat-controlled since 1986.
My constituency stretches from Clock House in the south to St. Helier in the north, a large estate built in the 1930s, and from Beddington in the east to Carshalton in the west of the constituency.

The 1918 boundaries of the Streatham constituency remained unchanged until changes to Greater London local government in the 1960s were reflected in the constituency boundaries fought at the February 1974 general election.

Following their review of parliamentary representation in South London the Boundary Commission for England has made minor changes to the existing constituency of Orpington.
The seats of Dartford and Chislehurst had both seen their electorate grow enormously since the last review and as an interim measure were divided into four, creating the additional seats of Bexley and Orpington.
The seat has changed a little in subsequent boundary reviews since 1945, most recently at the 1997 general election, when the Ravensbourne seat was divided between the three Bromley constituencies, moving Biggin Hill into the existing Orpington seat.

The good news about law and order in my constituency is demonstrated by the significant fall in reported crime for the second year running, and by the significant improvement in the clear-up rates on the most sensitive categories of crime.
