Cartel mesh loud, bombastic guitars with pretty melodies and rock arrangements with an acute sense of pop songwriting.
Fifteen years of a solid friendship makes it easier for a band to succeed and move far past most bands in their genre –; to release a debut album with songs that sound like they came from a band that has been around for fifteen years.
Cartel sees themselves as another set of minstrels through the ages, with the same “stupid, silly song written for today.” Issuing a challenge to their cohorts, Will Pugh calls out “pop punk isn’t going anywhere – let’s make some moves, fellas.” With “Chroma,”; Cartel does just that.

No wonder Alternative Press hailed them as "A Band You Need To Know." Their story starts unremarkably enough in the town of Conyers, about 20 minutes outside Atlanta and a place that produces more insurance agents and bankers than rock stars.
Sanders, singer Will Pugh and guitarist Joseph Pepper formed the original core of Cartel in high school, but it wasn't until after a brief hiatus, in 2003, that the five current members banded together and made the band a reality.
The EP paved the way for Cartel to hit the road and begin stacking up a considerable following around the country, all while becoming a road-tested and explosive live act.

Unfortunately for Cartel, they have yet to score a huge MTV video hit that will slingshot them into the cd players of every other high school girl.
He hits every band perfectly in tune and has a good tenor, although he does little to test his range, never revealing any falsetto or other diversion to the listener.
The press release says that “the band says they ‘want to take over the world’ and right now, they’re on their way.” Seems a little conceited if you ask me, but they definitely did right by putting this out.

Founded on Usenet in April of 2003 by Jacob Haller, Interröbang Cartel is the world's first and greatest international Internet punk band, or perhaps it's a zydeco or New Wave band.
In any case, humorous posturing by the various band members eventually lead to people actually writing songs, and (wonder of wonders) recording them.

 Delta Blues Cartel - Henry "Mule" Townsend, "Homesick" James Williamson, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Robert Lockwood Jr. ...
He urged the DBC band on, had the crowd clapping to the rhythm, and generated an enthusiastic crowd response at the end.
The DBC band then joined Honeyboy as he sang and played with enthusiasm, the crowd clapping along, on "Don't Say I Don't Love You." He played some impressive, stinging slide by picking the strings, shaking the whole guitar to enhance the sound, and moving it up and down on repeating notes.
The four blues legends then all joined together with the DBC band to achieve a great ensemble sound on Homesick's "Dust My Broom" with Homesick playing a wicked slide, Robert providing the vocals and the rich tone of his 12-string, Honeyboy adding rhythm, and Henry rounding things out with enthusiasm on piano.
