Carter County Museum was chartered in 1936, through the efforts of Walter H. Peck, DeLoss Hall, and Septon Cady and a number of interested area residents, under the auspices of the Carter County Geological Society.
Carter County Museum is currently in the process of moving a one room school house which it acquired, to the museum grounds.
In 1972, the Carter County Rural Teachers Association decided to preserve the beautiful old school and had it moved to the Fairgrounds in Ekalaka, where it was opened for exhibit.
