Cartoon Planet - The TV IV
Cartoon Planet was an animated comedy series that was spun off from the incredibly popular Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
The series was originally created as kind of an opposite to Coast to Coast, where it took on the guise of an afterschool special that showed old cartoons for a hour.
Around 1997, however, the series removed all of the archive cartoons and increased the amount of skits, songs and comedy bits with Space Ghost, Brak and Zorak.

Cartoon Planet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cartoon Planet was an animated variety show that premiered in 1995 on Superstation TBS, and afterwards from 1996 to 1999 on Cartoon Network.
Eventually, it was repackaged into 22 half-hour "episodes" which retained clips from cartoons that were used in the various skits, but omitted the entire cartoons that were formerly shown.
Cartoon Planet guised itself almost like a hokey after-school show: the clichéd "mailbag", in which Space Ghost displayed difficulty with reading; classic cartoon interludes; and strange conversations among the hosts.

The Modern Ghost Planet FAQ, covering Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet
Cartoon Planet was, for most of its life, a half-hour collection of short animated skits and songs featuring Space Ghost, Zorak, and Brak.
Cartoon Planet's original opening and closing themes were instrumental excerpts from a pair of They Might Be Giants songs, both from "John Henry".
Nearly all of the sketches and lyrics for Cartoon Planet were written by Andy Merrill, Pete Smith, and Jefferson Clay.

The Power Is Yours To Bring Back Captain Planet Petition
In order to make Captain Planet accessible to all children and youths with cable TV, it is important to bring Captain Planet and the Planeteers back to the Cartoon Network lineup at an after school hour.
B) The fans of Captain Planet and the Planeteers are in full support of the series’ final season’s episodes being added to the regular episode line-up.
It would be advantageous to many parties involved if Captain Planet And The Planeteers’ six seasons were to be released on DVD, as they would sell very well and not only bring in a profit for any stores or venders, but make Captain Planet available in the classroom as well as the home.

The result was a minimalist cartoon variety show which could be enjoyed by both college stoners and mentally-unbalanced five year olds.
The story behind Cartoon Planet was that Space Ghost had been asked to host a new show by a desperate producer, so he recruited Zorak and Brak, who still remained his prisoners while they helped him out with the show.
Brak would often break into song, read poetry, or keep the audience at home informed with morality tales and cooking tips, such as the tale of a monkey who tried to help Brak with his homework, or his personal recipe for pu-pu-pu platter (the extra "pu" makes all the difference).
