Entenza envisioned the Case Study effort as a way to offer the public and the building industry models for low-cost housing in the modern idiom, foreseeing the coming building boom as inevitable in the wake of the drastic housing shortages during the depression and war years.
Contributors to the case Study House program ranged from architects who were to attain international reputations - Richard Neutra, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, Craig Ellwood and Pierre Koenig - to those whose reputations remain primarily localized, such as Whitney R. Smith, Thornton Abell, and Rodney Walker.
A few of the early built houses were even brought into the program after being designed in order to continue some degree of momentum for the Case Study effort during breaks in its continuity.

An analogous case is recorded at Bava Mezia 64a: S stipulates to B an up front price of, say, $300, for the entire milk production of his goats for the year.
Since, in the case at hand, the one who pays up front agrees to accept the work irrespective of defective workmanship on the part of the publisher, the lower up front price should not be regarded as a discount from the post publication price.

The Steel Case house is designed to alleviate this situation by allowing the steel fabrication and erection to fit into the construction sequence typical to a wood framed house.

Zurich Opera House - Case Study
Speedy communication network requirements are usually seen as the domain of large corporate organisations; but when the Zurich Opera house approached PAV Data Systems' resellers, about purchasing a state of the art system, it soon became clear why their need was just as acute.
Given that the Opera house, like most centres of art and culture have limited funds together with the fact that it was looking for a more immediate solution to its communication needs, the cable option was not viable.
In the case of the Opera house, a direct link was not possible since the rehearsal rooms and its offices were situated behind another building that blocked a direct line of sight.

Eames Foundation - History of the Eames House
The Eames House, Case Study House #8, was one of 25 homes built as part of The Case Study House Program.
The magazine announced that it would be the clients for a series of architect-design homes to be built and furnished using materials and techniques derived from the experiences of the second World War and best suited to express man's life in the modern world.
The charm and appeal of the House is perhaps best explained in the words of Case Study House founder, John Entenza, who felt that the Eames House "represented an attempt to state an idea rather than a fixed architectural pattern."

The design of the house was proposed by Charles and Ray as part of the famous Case Study House program for John Entenza’s Arts and Architecture magazine.
The idea of a Case Study house was to hypothesize a modern household, elaborate its functional requirements, have an esteemed architect develop a design that met those requirements using modern materials and construction processes, and then to actually build the home.
The house is designed using the de Stijl principles which focused on solid shapes and lines based on primary colours.

 The Siegel House - Introduction
Through this investigation, we found that the Siegels are very happy with their house and the Village Homes subdivision, but that some of the passive solar design features in their house have not lived up to their expectations.
In fact, the developers and homeowners associated with Village Homes prove just the opposite--the houses there are pleasant places in which to live and, in many cases, beautiful homes.
Residences like the Siegel House are often discussed at conferences and in publications dedicated to energy efficiency, but there has been little follow-up since their completion to see how the houses, and the ideas behind them, have fared over the years.
