Case sensitivity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Text sometimes exhibits case sensitivity, that is, words can differ in meaning based on the differing use of uppercase and lowercase letters.
Passwords are often made case sensitive to make them harder to guess, whereas making usernames harder to guess or remember is not an advantage.
Case insensitive operations are sometimes said to fold case, from the idea of folding the character code table so that upper and lower case letters coincide.

case sensitive   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Case in file names should be preserved (for readability) but ignored when matching (so the user doesn't have to get it right).
MS-DOS does not preserve case in file names, Unix preserves case and matches are case sensitive.
Case sensitivity is also relevant in programming (most programming languages distiguish between case in the names of identifiers), and addressing (Internet domain names are case insensitive but RFC 822 local mailbox names are case sensitive).

Firstly, remove the bezel from the case before you start drilling and ensure you have a path for the cable to go back into the case with, and that you have clearance for the pins on the back of the light.

jGuru: can we fetch case sensitive data in ms sql server?
MS Sql Server may or may default to case sensitive queries depending on how it was originally configured.
If you're going to be doing primarily case sensitive queries against a text field in a 'case insensitive' MS SQL Server 2000 server, you can change JUST that column to be case sensitive.
The case sensitivity in MS SqlServer is defined by the colation order of the column (which defaults according to the language and installation preferences).

The Old Joel on Software Forum - Case sensitive environments
Literature has adopted certain conventions regarding capitalisation and these are enforced by publishers through editors and proofreaders; programming languages should enforce similar conventions regarding their syntactic constructs and they should be enforced by the compiler or interpreter.
Basically, if everybody in this world does believe and accept that case sensitivity is required in normal life for a language, what's wrong with having it in the programming language.
To counter the idea of case sensitivity you say "if you use it consistantly it is fine, so why should the compiler enforce it?" To that I say: if you *intend* to use capitalization consistantly, you *should* have the compiler enforce it.

Case Sensitive URLs - Does Capitalization Matter?
I was just beginning to embark on a massive binge of URL "case standardization", when it struck me that it might be a good idea to see how this might effect search engines, bookmarks, and other links to my pages.
If you feel you must change the case of these pages, you might want to make sure that you have a custom 404 error page with a link to enable visitors to find your main index page and perhaps links to several of your other important pages as well.
Lower case does have the disadvantage of being harder to read on long URLs (www.example.com/thisishardtoread.htm as opposed to www.example.com/ThisIsHardToRead.htm), so you might want to consider mixed case for that reason.

If the java compiler is enforcing case > sensitivity beyond that it's a bug in that compiler, because on Windows > it's not unusual to get dodgy case on files.
For somebody new to Java, it surely seems strange that "foo.java" doesn't mean the same thing as "Foo.java" on Windows and Mac OS X, but the Javac compiler is just checking to make sure that your program will compile the same way on every platform that supports Java.
That will largely eliminate this problem (unless you change the case of your actual classes) and people seem to find many other benefits with this model as well.

Unlike HTML, which is case insensitive (as is the SGML metalanguage of which HTML is an appplication), XML is strictly case-sensitive, and so therefore is every application of XML (e.g., XSLT, MathML, SVG and so forth, plus any languages you create).
The case sensitivity nature of XML often confuses novices.
Since XML is case-sensitive, it should not be surprising that certain special words must appear in a particular case.
