Australian 250cc rider Casey Stoner has closed the gap on Spaniard Daniel Pedrosa after winning the Malaysian Grand Prix yesterday.
Meanwhile Australian Casey Stoner added to what is turning out to be a vintage year by scoring victory in the 250 race ahead of Alex de Angelis and Sebastian Porto.
Stoner is now only 38 points behind Pedrosa with three rounds to go including the 2005 Polini Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island, October 16.

Unfortunately the first day of practices was not so positive for the Australian rider Casey Stoner who fell off after having achieved the provisional pole position: the impact was hard and the young no. 27 rider suffered a fracture of the left collarbone and the scaphoid.
A number of riders mounted pole attempts in a typically frenetic finale but only Dani Pedrosa could overcome Stoner with a clean lap of 2'09.330.
It is a result that promises well for the qualifying round for pole position and for Sunday's race.

Simone Corsi (Aprilia) and Hiroshi Aoyama (Team Movistar Honda RS250RW) were riding hard to get on the tail of that group and Casey Stoner (Aprilia) was also on a charge to the front.
Pedrosa heads the World Championship points table with 123, Stoner lies second with 96, Dovi third on 93 and Aoyama comes into the reckoning with 58.
Pedrosa got a poor start from pole and was outside the top ten on lap one, but by lap three he was sixth after setting a fastest lap.

Australian Casey Stoner fell one short of adding his name to the winners’ list at the German GP, finishing second — and only 0.212 seconds — behind Italian Stefano Perugini, but the 17-year-old Stoner is confident a victory is just around the corner.
The last Australian to win a premier class race at Brno was Mick Doohan in 1997, while McCoy was on the podium in 2000 at the 5.4km circuit in the town which gave its name to the Bren gun in World War Two.

Daniel Pedrosa went off on the 3rd lap for his first DNF for the 2005 season handing Casey Stoner a huge reduction in the points chase for the title.
