Though Casper enters the Hall of Fame with the more touchdown receptions (52) than any of the five tight ends previously enshrined (Mike Ditka, John Mackey, Ozzie Newsome, Jackie Smith, and Kellen Winslow), his overall statistics seem somewhat pedestrian when compared to the numbers produced by tight ends in today's wide-open passing schemes.
When Casper's relationship with the Raiders organization grew somewhat contentious, Oakland traded the tight end to the Houston Oilers and their two tight-end offense in 1980.
Casper's knack for being in the right place at the right time made him the focus of two of the NFL's most memorable monikers and plays.

 Filmtracks: Casper (James Horner)
Horner is a veteran of scoring children's films --live action and animation-- and in many ways, Casper is dismissed because it features many of the same motifs and orchestrations that we have heard so many times in previous Horner scores for the genre.
There are, however, some more serious interludes throughout the film when Casper wants to be a live, little boy again, and for these scenes, Horner cuts away from obnoxious action music and spills out one of the best themes of his entire career.
The theme is officially called "Casper's Lullaby" for concert purposes and features outstanding statements during three or four tracks of the album, including a few full five minute sequences.

Casper was unusual among Famous Studios characters, in that he wasn't a knock-off of something else.
In 1949, Casper became a comic book character, when St. John Publishing secured the rights to do all of Paramount's cartoon characters in that venue — and by the way, it was in St. John's Casper the Friendly Ghost #1, September 1949, that Casper first received his actual name.
Casper's comics far outlasted his theatrical career — they were published regularly until 1982, and sporadically since.
