CASS COUNTY, Iowa -- An audit of the Cass County, Iowa, Sheriff's Office shows a number of improper uses of a cash fund in the office.
Iowa state Auditor David A. Vaudt said Tuesday that a three-year special investigation of the office turned up the problems, including $11,381.06 of improper and unsupported disbursements from the account and $2,827 of deposits that were never made on county collections.
Vaudt reported all deposits to the cash account should have remitted to the Cass County Treasurer's Office for deposit to the county’s general fund.
