Cass Timberlane Cass Timberlane is an awful film from the very beginning when we first encounter Spencer camped out on the bench as the Circuit Judge of Lake Woebegone Minnesota and he delivers a smug sermon to a couple seeking a divorce about the sanctity of marriage. Cass gets roped into being the umpire of the game and the next thing you know he's chatting it up with Virginia at a cozy little Italian restaurant while stiffing his upper crust friends at some fancy dinner he's supposed to be going to.
