Cassie Bernall (November 6, 1981 – April 20, 1999) was a student killed in the Columbine High School massacre.
In the months following Cassie's death, her mother, Misty Bernall, authored the book She Said Yes: The Unlikely Martyrdom of Cassie Bernall (ISBN 0743400526) which discusses Cassie's teenage life and spirituality.
Wyant says that she and Bernall were studying together when the gunmen broke in.

There are witnesses and investigators who say that there was no verbal exchange about God between Cassie and her killer and that it was actually a different girl who was near Cassie who was asked about her belief.
The News says that Cassie was crouched under a table when she was shot and that another student, 16 year old Emily Wyant, was next to her.
The News article says that one of the witnesses to initially tell the story about Cassie being asked about her belief in God was Craig Scott whose sister Rachel was among those killed in the rampage.
