 Blizzard North - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blizzard North was the Northern-California division of Blizzard Entertainment, known for the Diablo series.
The resignations were partly due to a conflict with Blizzard Entertainment's owner Vivendi Universal, and partly due to employees wishing to start something new.
On August 1, 2005, Blizzard Entertainment announced the shutting down of Blizzard North, saying that it will move its remaining employees to its head offices to resume work on an “unannounced project" which most believe is the third installment in the Diablo series.

A seventh member of the group marooned for the BBC's Castaway 2000 programme has left the isolated island after feeling homesick for her family.
Mrs Freeman, who left the island last Thursday, was the latest in a string of departures and leaves 29 of the original 36 castaways still on Taransay.

 Blizzard North Cancels one of their two unannounced projects - WarBoards
Similarly, at Redwood City, Calif.-based Castaway Entertainment, president Mike Scandizzo says his 15-person team (nine of whom -- producers, artists, and programmers -- are from Blizzard) is working on a game "that will appeal to the same audience as did previous Blizzard games." He, too, hopes to display that game at E3 2005.
In the meantime, Castaway is in talks with several interested publishers, and looks forward to make an announcement soon.
It will be interesting to see what Flagship Studios and Castaway Entertainment come up with in a year and half - as well as seeing if Blizzard did in fact manage to survive the loss of so many staff members.

The word is that Bill Roper of Flagship Studios and Mike Scandizzo co-founded a new company called Castaway Entertainment; plus, they revealed their plans for a new game that's supposedly going to appeal to fans of Blizzard's classics.
The Castaway Entertainment web site offers precious little info on the company or any future projects, but there is a concept art image which looks quite cool (news spotted on HomeLAN).
