Though many skate parks were already in their planning stages, the publicity boom of Hawk's 900 helped lend mainstream legitimacy to the sport while deploying a new generation of skateboarders that needed a place to go.

NYCSK8: Where to Skate: Central Park
The Central Park loop was almost entirely resurfaced in the early 1990s, and generally remains remains in decent condition for skating.
You may want to consider not skating the loop when cars are in the park, what with the competition for the recreation lane and the exhaust and grit in the air.
Be cautious after the third hill (the highest point in the park), because it's easy to pick up a lot of speed as you begin the descent around 82nd St. and pass by the Delacorte Theater and Belvedere Castle.

Hey we need a place to skate when we travel, open up love park, who is it bothering to have people skate or chill there, its a public place that skaters go to, to not skate businesses and other areas.
Skating in LOVE should not feel like a crime, skaters should have the peace of mind to skate as long as they want without worrying if the next minute they are going to be thrown to the ground by a cop.
Even if you don't skate, you can still enjoy this park in the same way anyways, its not like letting us skate is going to take away the beauty of the park. The trees, the flowers, the fountains, and the LOVE sign will still be there which are basically the things that make the park beatuful.

In years past, the park idea was met coolly by city officials, with liability being a major concern.
Goshen businesses now at odds with kids using their parking lots, sidewalks, walls, rails and stairs would have fewer problems if the skaters had somewhere else to go.
No one is proposing a massive city expenditure for the park, and the project will succeed or fail based largely on the strength of grassroots organizing and fund-raising.
