Castle Rising was notable enough as a site to be granted representation in (A legislative assembly in certain countries (e.g., Great Britain)) Parliament.
The castle is remarkably good condition despite being over 850 years old.One of the most striking features is the earthwork surrounding the moat.
There is a gravel path at the top of the built-up area, which enables the visitor to walk right round the building, getting not only a great view of the castle, but also of the town of Castle Rising and its neighbours.

For nearly 900 years, the keep of Castle Rising has stood like a silent sentinel on the northern plain of England’s East Anglia, battered by the winds from the nearby sea and embraced by the protective earthworks that stand nearly as tall as that stone structure.
These steps at Castle Rising were part of the defenses of the 12th century castle.

He was imprisoned at Kenilworth Castle, and a parliament met at Westminster in January 1327, which chose his son to be king as Edward III.
It was thought prudent to compel the captive king to resign the crown, and on January 20 Edward was forced to renounce his office before a committee of the estates.
In 1330, Isabella retired from public life; she died, either at Hertford or at Castle Rising in Norfolk on August 23, 1358.
