Castle Vale HAT was established in 1993 when the area formally transfered from Birmingham City Council to the HAT after a ballot saw 92% in favor of a transfer.
The HAT's vision is for a new Castle Vale, created by working with residents and others for : ' a self sustaining community living in high quality homes in a pleasent and safe environment '.
Much of the change can be attributed to the close involvement of Castle Vale residents and the equal commitment of a range of other partners, each placing their own important imprint on the regeneration, and proud to be part of a vision that is making a real difference to people's lives.

In the fourteenth century the accounts of the Guernsey garrisons and castles there is no mention of the Vale Castle or the Chateau des Marais, as it was also known.
The castle was garrisoned in the French Wars of 1793 to 1815 and was used as a signal station.

The castle was really little more than a small fortified manor house, built in the 13th and 14th centuries to replace an earlier earthwork.
Early in the 14th century the castle was strengthened by the addition of a large hall and gatehouse on its south side, and the ruins of these can be seen today.

A report released today on Castle Vale Housing Action Trust’s (HAT) economic and community development programme reveals that the HAT’s schemes have been very successful and cost effective having helped reduce the local unemployment rate in the Kingsbury ward from over 26% to under 5%.
The independent report conducted for the HAT by ECOTEC Research and Consulting also shows that part of this success achieved since 1994/5 hinges on the HAT’s record in securing over £93m of private sector investment into the area, helping 1400 residents to access jobs and providing nearly 3,500 bespoke training places.

Sometime between midnight on Monday and midnight on Tuesday, graffiti was sprayed on a boulder at the Vale Castle.
The vandalism was similar to the attacks on the Vale Church and the Millennium Stone and detectives are investigating whether this third act of stencilled graffiti, at the Vale Castle, is linked.
In another attack this month, at Vale Church, the words "This used to be God's house - but he moved" were sprayed in fl paint on the church door, one of the walls and a window.

It is said that the bellcote from the west gable was taken down and placed over the stables at Fonmon Castle.
This was probably erected at East Orchard about 1350 and transferred to Fonmon Castle about a century-and-a-half ago where it still stands.At the time Mr.Clark visited the Orchard he found the dovecote floorless and roofless, the chapel had no roof and the west wall was badly broken down.
