Tony Brown was re-elected to the House of Keys, as MHK for Castletown, in the November 2006 General Election.
Castletown, once the Capital of the Isle of Man and the seat of Tynwald, the Island's parliament, still has many interesting and historic attractions.
This web publication celebrates Castletown as an active community which still manages to retain its heritage and charm.

Castletown is the largest and most significant Palladian style country house in Ireland.
Both Mr Guinness and subsequently the Castletown Foundation, who acquired the house in 1979, devoted considerable effort and resources to maintaining the house and restoring the principal rooms to a high standard.

  Irish Georgian Society - Castletown House
The design of the building led to the construction of Leinster House and from thence to the White House in Washington, D.C. The estate was begun in 1722 by William Conolly (1662-1729), Speaker of the Irish House of Commons.
Castletown House reflects the balance of that philosophy with a great central block of grey stone flanked by golden Ardbraccan stone curved colonnades which join the kitchen and stables to the main house.
Castletown was formerly the headquarters of the Irish Georgian Society, who rescued the building, restored it, and furnished it with Irish furniture and paintings of the period.

Castletown is perhaps the most interesting of Manx towns, but of its history, apart from that of Castle Rushen, very little is known until we reach times comparatively recent.
Castletown was intimately associated with the struggle between Church and State, which, in 1722, culminated in Bishop Wilson's imprisonment in Castle Rushen.
Castletown was not apparently influenced so much as Douglas by the smuggling traffic nor by the settlement of English debtors, which was such a feature of the Manx life of the period.

During April 1888, Castletown lifeboat member George E Kelly made a shore boat rescue for which he was to be awarded a silver medal of the Institute for his prompt and decisive actions in the saving of four lives.

It may justly be said that Castletown is the largest and most splendid country house in Ireland, but it is also arguably the most important for it introduced sophisticated Palladianism from the continent and brought about a revolution in Irish architecture.
The interior plan of Castletown was probably largely devised by Pearce, although it incorporates some archaic features, such as the arrangement of rooms in an enfilade along the ground-floor garden front.
Castletown's interior was largely created during the time of Tom Conolly, the Speaker's great nephew, who inherited the property in 1758 when he was twenty four.

I have seen Castletown Harbour during a Saturday and Sunday in the herring fishing season so full of schooners, smacks and fishing boats, that you could walk from one side to the other of the Harbour on them.
Castletown Pier and Lighthouse were built 99 year.; ago, the Quay known as the old Quay being then the only protection to the harbour from the Southwest gales.
I have seen Castletown Market Place, and the yards and lanes of both the Union and George hotels, absolutely full of these horse-round-abouts during an afternoon, and there would also be a good few in the mornings, making Castletown their dinner centre.
