Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is the third game in the Castlevania timeline, featuring Simon Belmont's ancestor, Trevor Belmont.
Castlevania III abandons the adventure game elements of its immediate predecessor and returns to the platform game roots of the first Castlevania game.
Unlike Castlevania, however, Castlevania III is not strictly linear: after completing the first level, and at several other points throughout the game, the player is given a choice of paths to follow.

The third game in line took the classic gameplay that earlier Castlevania titles were known for and refined it into a masterpiece that is still a blast to play today.
Castlevania III introduced many new elements such as branching level paths and multiple characters that helped it stand well above the competition it had at the time.
The third Castlevania continues the legacy of innovation and excellence established by earlier games in the series.

Curmudgeon Gamer - First Impressions: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
All in all, Castlevania III is the most interesting, replayable, and downright fun of the first three Castlevania titles that were US releases for the NES.
Castlevania shares a whole lot in common with two other games of that era (though it predates both of them), Rare's Wizards and Warriors and the NES version of Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden.
Castlevania III was definitely innovative for its time, while carrying on the CV traditions of quality art and music.

 Castlevania III Review
The style of play is similar to almost all other Castlevania games - enhanced from the first chapter, and a solid enough base for other Castlevania games to build on for another decade (and beyond).
The second stage may be the greatest clocktower in the Castlevania series, hollowly imitated by others (Dracula X, Castlevania 4) but Castlevania 3 made the first impression, an impression so strong nothing could overcome it.
Maybe I could get over this flaw of Castlevania 3 and enjoy the rest of the game, if only I didn't insist on going through every door from now on in bat form, preventing me from seeing the rest of the game.

Castlevania is one franchise that older Nintendo fans may remember well, seeing as it got its start on the Nintendo Entertainment System with three successive hits: Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, and Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.
The three Castlevania titles for the Game Boy Advance (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow) were all met with much praise from critics.
That's right, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is still sticking to its two-dimensional guns (where many purists claim the series should stay, and rightfully so, after witnessing the majesty of several masterpieces in the series).
