Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joining Trevor Belmont in his mission to defeat Dracula are three new playable characters: Sypha Belnades, a young witch with poor physical attack power but powerful magic spells at her disposal, Grant DaNasty, a fleet-footed pirate with the ability to climb on walls, and Alucard (a.k.a.
Castlevania III abandons the adventure game elements of its immediate predecessor and returns to the platform game roots of the first Castlevania game.
Unlike Castlevania, however, Castlevania III is not strictly linear: after completing the first level, and at several other points throughout the game, the player is given a choice of paths to follow.

She first appears in the game Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, where she provides some information to the game's protagonist Soma Cruz when he encounters into her.
Yoko is also present in the sequel, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and her role there is much larger.
When Julius Mode is unlocked, Yoko is a playable character in the game, found in the very same shop that she is during a normal game with Soma.

Castlevania Game Review Nintendo 64   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Castlevania's gameplay mechanics (they way characters move and the environments in which they move) closely resemble those of Zelda 64.
Castlevania's gameplay is almost identical to the original NES Castlevania, meaning that you walk five steps, kill a bunch of enemies, make some jumps, and then repeat.
Castlevania is a great throwback to a bygone era, an age when games weren't meant to be easy, and beating a game was a proud accomplishment.

The third game in line took the classic gameplay that earlier Castlevania titles were known for and refined it into a masterpiece that is still a blast to play today.
Castlevania III introduced many new elements such as branching level paths and multiple characters that helped it stand well above the competition it had at the time.
The playable characters include a traditional Castlevania whip-bearer, a mage, an agile pirate who can cling to walls, as well as the fan-favorite, Alucard, who would later star in his own Castlevania game.

Castlevania 64 is the first in the series to leave the side-scrolling genre.
The two characters are Reinhardt Schneider, heir to the Belmont clan and possessor of the holy whip, and Carrie Fernandez, a young girl who is gifted with magical powers (aren't they always?).
The characters also seem to glide like Gumby over the land, as if the movement engine was the last part they implemented.

World of Intrigue- Legacy of Darkness Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Castlevania: LoD is very much a true action game, the look and feel is traditional and the levels are built on a large scale like all the others.
The characters differ from each other very well, Cornell has an interesting power to transform into a manwolf (though I recommend it ONLY for bosses), Henry has an infinite gun, and Reinhardt has his whip with Carrie and her fireballs.
The characters are sort of pretty blah in terms of 3-D visuals.

IGN: Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Review
Castlevania (64) featured its share of simplistic puzzles as well, plus it offered gamers the chance to play as two different characters, Reinhardt Schneider and Carrie Fernandez.
Like Castlevania 64, each character features a handful of unique levels to explore, but most of the areas in the game are shared.
Castlevania fans will be happy to hear that some of the classic tunes return during the opening cinema sequences.

Castlevania X has stunning level designs with high levels of detail, wonderful flowing waterfalls, creaking stairways, quasi-3D pixels, and backgrounds that break away as enemies pop out of the woodwork...literally!
And Castlevania X is full of awesome details, such as all the cool special moves.
Her weapons are completely different, and include, cats, birds, dragons and turtle shells, and when she collects food, it's cake and lollipops rather than the traditional leg of pork.

With this being the third Castlevania game to be released for the GBA I did think that it would have run out of steam but I was mistaken.

The Otaku Fridge :::: Castlevania - Lament of Innocence
Although I consider myself to be a Castlevania fan, I have actually only played three of the games in the series, two of which I finished, and only one which I completed 100% on my own (that would be this game, Lament of Innocence).
I was too young then to play the game, and the sight of floating medusa heads gave me nightmares; it was only my siblings and their friends, all a good deal older than my four years, who played the game and called it fun.
And because of their enthusiasm years ago, and because of Symphony of the Night was such a great game (and I had long overgrown the fear of medusa heads by then), I came to be knowledgeable of the series’ characters and storyline though I hadn’t done much of the playing myself.

 TNL Forum - Castlevania
The Castlevania series is often regarded as one of the finest staples of gaming, ranked alongside greats such as Megaman, Sonic, Mario and Zelda by enthusiast gamers.
Castlevania was based upon many of the underlying principles that made various other Konami games such as Life Force, Rush and Attack, and Contra so popular back in the day.
Castlevania 2 does a remarkable job of replicating the intangible feeling of adventure that is a staple of other greats of the action RPG genre(Zelda, Landstalker, etc).

They haven't given any hints as to who the extra playable characters would be, but there aren't a lot of choices that are plausable, and given Castlevania 3 and Symphony of the Night it wouldn't be to hard to make Yoko and Genya "Arikardo" playable characters.
All that would be left to the series is if they would finally give their extra characters a little bit of sidequest story unique to their game.
Pity the character art is afflicted with that anime style, but then so was Dracula X and that rocked since as sad as the character art is, at least it has no bearing on the actual gameplay since that all looks cool still.

Suprised in the reply it was stated that he will infact return as the extra character, but this time he is bringing some friends.
The only thing left is to give the extra characters their own little sidequest stories, as opposed to simply running through the game with them.
In the PS2 Castlevania trailer I noticed the main character was fighting someone using a whip, upon further investigation I have reason to suspect (timeline wise) that Trevor Belmont will appear in the game, and likely be the extra character for the PS2 title.

 The Lost Castlevania Legend
Koji Igarashi, the frontman for the Castlevania series, declared "Castlevania: Legends" to be noncanonical and had it removed from the official Castlevania timeline.
In this interview, Koji Igarashi says "Back in Castlevania III, in the beginning of the game, Trevor Belmont is the destined vampire hunter who has been instructed by the Greek Orthodox church to destroy Dracula." So, there's IGA's view on the matter, if you care.
Of course, "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" for the original PlayStation is also a premature resurrection, and yet there seems to be no support to have that game removed from the official continuity.

Both characters have their own strengths and weaknesses, and each one explores some areas that the other one doesn't.

 CastleVania Characters - Other Characters
According to CastleVania lore, Ilona "Lisa" Szilagy was lynched by the very people she dedicated her life to helping, tried as a witch for her relationship with Dracula, then burned at the stake.
Being both agile and possessing a shrill singing voice that was used against her enemies, she was a valuable companion to Richter, and a powerful warrior on her own.
Captured and used as a sacrificial lamb to resurrect Dracula at one point, she is the driving force behind Cornell's quest into CastleVania in 1844 (CastleVania: Legacy of Darkness).

From the start, players choose from either John Morris and the classic whip, or the spear wielding Eric Lecarde, arguably the better of the two.
There are those gamers out there though that will feel obligated to use John however, simply for the whip as it is a preferred choice in the vast majority of Castlevania games.
