This Reserve protects about 1500ha of coastal habitats between the estuaries of Rapid Creek and Buffalo Creek, in the Darwin area.

Casuarina Coastal Reserve hosts a diverse and significant range of vegetation communities, including monsoon vine-forest, mangroves, Casuarina forest and woodlands.

Pipeline construction at Casuarina Coastal Reserve has not gone to plan and the integrity of the area has been put at risk.
Casuarina Coastal Reserve, the NT's most visited nature reserve and a turtle nesting beach, resembled a construction site yesterday amidst unsuccessful attempts to get the 70 tonne pipeline under control and out to sea.

A man whose body was washed up on a popular Darwin northern suburbs beach on Friday had drowned, police have said.
A man on his morning walk discovered the body of a 43-year-old man about 7.30am Friday in the sand about 300m out from the end of the Casuarina Coastal Reserve near the Rapid Creek estuary.
The body was revealed as the tide went out, reports the Northern Territory News.
