	Infiltration Journal: Montreal Abandonments
		Though we knew we were somewhere wet, dark and full of glass bottles right away, it took us a while longer for us to figure that we were in a nightclub that had been abandoned following severe flooding, presumably the same flooding that had caused the college above to go out of business.
		The nightclub didn't appear to be connected to the upper part of the building except by an out-of-commission elevator, so we ventured further inside.
		There were no doors or windows on the ground floor of the theatre, so I had to scramble up the brick wall at the side of the building to get to a lower rooftop.

	The Catacombs
		It was not tainted by the commercialism of the record industry and led a scene devoted to the promotion of obscure artists, songwriters and musicians who produced musical works of merit and originality.
		The Catacombs closed briefly in 1972 for refitting by new owners Astra Entertainment and it emerged with a lick of paint, and an extended dance floor, but the same inimitable atmosphere.
		The Catacombs achieved a surprising level of success, stature and notoriety considering it's modest size and earlyclosing time of 12.30 am.

		The Catacombs is a gothic dance hall that used to be a warehouse, near the Mission district.
		The Catacombs is very atmospheric -- the large windows on the first and second floor have been replaced with colored glass in flowing, chaotic patterns that aren't always easy to discern at night.
		The floor of the first level has been almost completely removed -- you go in the door and there's about 20 feet of floor and a chainlink fence that lets you look down at the main dance floor, which is on the basement level of the warehouse.

		Ring Redwing heads into the Catacombs through the Nightclub's entrance, dressed in her Civvie outfit for the moment, since she likes the way the Catacomb's dark lighting scheme and everything makes her outfit stick out even more.
		Iris is seated up at the bar, with a plain Coke...though she doesn't seem to be much in the mood for drinking it anymore...not since she saw the sort of mood Jet's in.

		The dark basement of the Catacombs is the ideal place to see the American Analog Set, sitting on a couch, drinking a mocha.
		Their music is so slow and calming, I can't even conceive of them playing at a bar or nightclub; they'd probably bore everyone in the room to death.
		But there's something about having the band right there, lulling you into tranquility, knowing that everyone around you is lost in their own little worlds as well.

		The Black Sea Backpackers was run by an Aussie called Kerry, he liked to organise nights out to the Arcadia Nightclub Strip by the beach and well, today was Saturday so it was looking like a big one.
		There are many English language tours of the catacombs for an extornionate price so we decided to take a reasonably priced Russian one.
		The Catacombs is a network of tunnels where the resistance was commanded from during World War II, I can't really tell you much more I'm afraid because our guide only spoke Russian.

		Despite the danger, Steketee painted over a dozen vampire portraits, and with each one his sense of ease grew.
		In July of 1892, a vampire suggested to him that Paris' underground catacombs, with their stacks of skulls and bones, would be a more atmospheric backdrop for the portrait; Steketee foolishly followed him there and was set upon by a hunting pack.
