Cathedrals in the Middle Ages were built by a long-lived community of builders, artisans, carpenters, sculptors, stone cutters, woodcutters, ceramics makers, glass makers, painters, and ordinary people working as laborers, based on a model created by an architect perhaps decades earlier, but inspired by a common vision of what that cathedral will be.
Hence the ideas of its author will gain more influence on the thinking of the blogosphere-readership (this is true for articles which are completely welcomed and for articles which are rejected, but nevertheless read because of their style, known provocative content, and the like).

Though the cannon and handguns rapidly gained popularity, the simpler weapons remained in the monarch's arsenal during the late Middle Ages.
While the castle was, arguably, the most formidable weapon of medieval warfare, generally when we think of weapons we think of something much smaller, movable, and able to wreak havoc and death on an opponent.

Second, I want to create a page called Chronology of Middle-earth[?] or something to that effect (to distinguish it from the History of Middle-earth, which is a book).
I'm not entirely sure what it would hold, because it does seem reasonable to have five separate pages for the Years of the Trees and the four Ages, but I'm sure we can come up with something.
Of course, there would be a category for beings of dubious or uncertain race, such as the Nazgûl, but I think it would be useful.

Here again the artist was limited, oppressed by the mentality of the late Middle Ages that was opposed to giving a more dignified recognition to his category, as he had to be careful to satisfy all the requirements of his customer, who decided on the shape, size and colours of the commissioned work.
The situation today is very different from the late Middle Ages and yet, the Trecento, in spite of the lack of social recognition for its artists, can be considered a particularly prolific century from the artistic and literary point of view.
Nowadays, when an artist manages to make his name and obtain a certain amount of recognition, it means that his activity will not only allow him to enjoy a very comfortable economic position, but that he will also gain a series of moral and social privileges.

 Meaning of Arms
Italy was a constant battleground in the Middle Ages: the struggle between the Pope and the Emperor, which extended into the long-lasting Guelf/Ghibelline conflict, was later followed by the wars between France and Spain over control of the Peninsula.
Coats of arms were, for the most part, freely adopted by individuals at some point in the Middle Ages or later.
One broad category of arms for which the meaning is easy to guess is that of canting arms (armes parlantes): those are arms for which the blazon (the verbal description) offers a pun on the name of the family.

Occasionally I turn to historical novels set in the Middle Ages for my leisure reading, but often I find that these present too stereotyped a view of the Middle Ages for me to stand (any use of the word “wench” and I’m done).

This novel details the adventures of a charming self-described literary hack after the woman who has been keeping him has kicked him out of her apartment.
