Palestine's Population During The Ottoman And The British Mandate Periods
In the Ottoman and Mandate periods, migration was a minor factor in the demographic makeup of the Muslim and Christian (though obviously not the Jewish) population of Palestine.
The numbers of Arabs in Palestine at the end of the Mandate and inside and out of Israel after the war are known (Table 1), but ascertaining the numbers who lived within and without the 1948 armistice borders is difficult.
The figures for the Mandate Period (1918, 1931, 1940, and 1946) include the Muslim, Christian, and Druze citizens of Palestine; non-citizens are excluded.

Referring to the same Arab view of Palestine in 1939, George Antonius spoke of "the whole of the country of that name [Syria] which is now split up into mandated territories..." His lament was that France's mandate over Syria did not include Palestine which was under Britain's mandate.

Pedantry - everything that bored you to death in high school
The Palestinians are not even a member of the same category as Israel, and thus no moral equivalency is possible.
I've already argued that there is no moral equivalence between Israel and the Palestinians, but that same argument does create an ontological equivalency between Israel and Hamas and I'm seeing a lot of moral equivalency in their current behaviour.
It makes the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a battle between two "nations" - two of the same sort of thing - instead of what it really is: a conflict between the Israeli state and a bunch of people called Palestinians.

The Palestinians are not even a member of the same category as Israel, and thus no moral equivalency is possible.
The Palestinians, because they are not a collective, are not responsible for terrorism, even when it is undertaken in their name by some collective entity.

Arab American Institute - Not Quite White
Testimony for the regional category (Middle East/North African) with ethnic subgroups (Arab, Iranian, Turk, Cypriot, Assyrian, etc.) was presented alongside support for a distinctly Arab American classifier--a mixed signal cited in the OMB report as a lack of consensus over the definition of the population in question.
Ancestry data on Arabs have received mixed reviews: the undercount (in 1990 the aggregated Arab origin populations did not exceed 900,000) drew concern as did the obvious drawback that the question only appeared on the long-form survey that is sent to a 17% sample of the nation's households.
Though overshadowed by the mixed race issue, the Arab American proposal continued to be raised in the final phase of the federal review: a series of public hearings sponsored by the OMB around the country during the summer of 1994.

 Book Review
Joan Peters's book falls in the category of what may be called scholarly polemic: Scholarly by being heavily researched and documented, polemical by using selective documentation as a battering ram for an ideological position.
It is important for fair-minded readers of the Peters book to realize that lowering the Arab population of pre-1948 Palestine does not invalidate the claim of a people to their land.
It was not as though there was a Palestinian people in Palestine considering itself as a people and we came and threw them out and took their country away from them.

There are Hebrew-speaking workers (this is an entirely different category) who would be granted full democratic rights to employ their language in schools, the media, etc., though all kids would also be taught Arabic as a matter of course.
A secular democratic republic in Palestine can therefore be established only by smashing the resistance of imperialism and the local bourgeoisies supporting it, i.e.
In the case of Palestine, the Jewish population has a settler colonialist origin and was purposely sent here by a whole series of imperialist powers in order to serve as cannon fodder for their oil corporations.

It was held that the god died with the plants and rose again when they reappeared the next season ; the cult, it was maintained, spread from Mesopotamia throughout the ancient world and was found with assorted names given for the Tammuz deity from Egypt (Osiris) through Palestine (Eshmun) into Greece (Adonis).
The putative category of dying and rising deities thus takes its place within the larger category of dying gods and the even larger category of disappearing deities.
As applied in the scholarly literature, 'dying and rising gods' is a generic appellation for a group of male deities found in agrarian Mediterranean societies who serve as the focus of myths and rituals that allegedly narrate and annually represent their death and resurrection.

Jerusalem Post Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World
Brenner could be brutally honest in depicting the flaws, petty and otherwise, of both his fellow Zionist pioneers, as well as the more established Jewish community in Palestine, and the hardships both groups faced.
On May 21, 1921, the 40-year-old Brenner was murdered on the outskirts of Tel Aviv by a gang of Arab rioters, during one of the earliest outbreaks of anti-Jewish violence in Mandatory Palestine.
In large part this is because Brenner clearly saw the writing of his fiction in a separate category from the polemical essays he was penning for Labor Zionist journals.
