Renaissance Society of America RSA will create a new category of Society membership specifically targeted to middle and high school teachers. Self-Help Activities among Internally Displaced Persons Displaced teachers in many countries have for example taken the initiative to help children who are unable to continue their schooling, by organising literacy classes, play activities, etc., even when in most cases they have few resources and little equipment at their disposal. The focus of this chapter is on the category of internally displaced persons, a social category which was created to describe people living in refugee-like circumstances, but within the territory of their own country, and who are therefore primarily the responsibility of the government of that particular country.
