The town council printed the tickets and in partnership with the Chairperson of the Twinning Committee it was agreed that due to the postal dispute, the Chairperson of the Twinning Committee would hand deliver most of the invitations and that the staff would distribute the invitations to its officials and the Councillors.
He acted totally independent of the Cathaoirleach and again stated that the Cathaoirleach was not aware of what number was used for the R.S.V.P. until the matter was raised on the Thursday before the reception.

With an increase in underage drinking reported in the past few weeks, Cmmr Patricia McCarthy said it was vital that parents would know exactly where their children were and what they were doing and who they were with.

A personal highlight of my year as Cathaoirleach was the opening of a night shelter on Tivoli Road in Dun Laoghaire.
I am very proud to be involved with this shelter and have visited it on many occasions and have found it to be operated to a very high standard by a very dedicated staff who demonstrate both compassion and understanding in carrying out their work.
I would like to express my particular appreciation to the staff of the Council for their dedication and effort, without which many of the achievements in the County during the year could not have occurred.

The return of the Seanad from its 12-week summer holiday has been put off for yet another week by its Cathaoirleach Senator Rory Kiely because he is attending a conference in Geneva.
Under Seanad rules the Cathaoirleach is entitled to decide when the House comes back after the summer break.

Seems someone was drafting the Local Government Act and decided Cathaoirleach wasn't a catchy enough title, so they added a provision allowing the council to be chaired by a Mayor.
The Yanks hadn't a clue what a Cathaoirleach was.
If they agreed with the town councillor who thought Cathaoirleach was too obscure a title, then they could simply have translated it as Chairman.
