  Catharine of Aragon biography
The succession of a queen regent was doubtful, and, granted that were secured, the question of marriage, either with a foreign prince or a subject nobleman, brought in a distinct possibility of a revival of the trouble of the Wars of the Roses.
Queen Catharine did not quit the kingdom, but was closely guarded at Ampthill, in Bedfordshire, afterward at Buckden, and then at Kimbolton Castle, Huntingdonshire, until her death on Jan. 8, 1536.
Catharine was educated under her mother's direction and was a fair Latin scholar.
