Catherine S. Callbeck (Born July 25, 1939 in Central Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, Canada-) was Premier of Prince Edward Island from 1993 to 1996; the first woman to be elected Premier in Canadian history.
Callbeck returned to politics in 1988 when she was elected to the federal House of Commons as an MP for the Liberal Party of Canada.
Her government proved to be unpopular, however, and Callbeck resigned in October 1996 after only three and a half years as PEI's Premier.

P.E.I. Senator Catherine Callbeck launched an inquiry in the Senate Friday to draw attention to the large number of Canadian seniors who are not receiving Canada Pension Plan (CPP) retirement benefits.
Callbeck noted that the provincial government in Quebec, which is responsible for the Quebec Pension Plan, is much more proactive than the federal government in making sure that all eligible seniors are signed up.
Callbeck suggested that the Senate Standing Committee on National Finance hold hearings in order to recommend ways in which the government can make sure all eligible seniors are signed up for their Canada Pension benefits, and how it could correct retroactivity limits for those seniors who do apply late.
