The Catholic University of Korea is a leading Roman Catholic institution of higher education in South Korea.
The university traces its roots to St. Joseph's Seminary, founded before Christianity was legalized, in 1855 in Baeron, a Catholic refuge in modern-day Jecheon, North Chungcheong province.
Songsim Women's College was founded in 1964; the two colleges were merged in 1990 to form the present-day entity of Catholic University.

SEOUL, South Korea, JUNE 18, 2004 (Zenit.org).- The Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has allocated a grant of $12 million to a Catholic medical facility for adult stem-cell research.
The grant, designed to give the country a point of reference in cellular medicine, is earmarked for the Institute of Cell and Gene Therapy of the Catholic Medical Center, a hospital affiliated with the Medical School of the Catholic University of Korea.
The Catholic Medical Center is concentrating on adult stem cell study and has made important initiatives, such as hosting international symposiums on stem cells and opening a cell therapy center, collaborating with medical specialists from diverse areas such as hematology, cardiology and neurology.

Teachers here now are on a newly placed 3 year teaching limit so that has forced some teachers who have worked for a long period of time to look for work elsework and that may explain the turnover rate.
and university vacation periods, where teachers are only required to teach a once a year, 3 week block immediatly following the end of the semester.
I was told that it was a girls'-only school up until a few years ago, so you don't see the piles of used cigarettes on the ground or the smelly men's rooms that you do in some other male-dominated universities.

The National Human Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea has examined employment application forms from 38 major companies and revealed that they all contain at least four questions which are of a discriminating nature.

Objective: The serial clinical findings, biochemical results, and serologic hepatitis B virus(HBV) markers in children with chronic HBV infection in Korea were analyzed to determine the relationships among these factors.
The hepatitis B carrier state may be asymptomatic in children however, continued surveillance of carriers is important to determine the individual adverse prognostic factors of chronic HBV infections.

In a recent study, neuroscientists in South Korea evaluated the effects of rTMS "on the left and right temporoparietal cortex compared with sham stimulation" in a group of schizophrenics with treatment-refractory AH.
Lee and colleagues published their study in Neuroscience Letters (A double blind study showing that two weeks of daily repetitive TMS over the left or right temporoparietal cortex reduces symptoms in patients with schizophrenia who are having treatment-refractory auditory hallucinations.
