Modelo, of Hinigaran town in Negros Occidental province, was hit in the chest during the firefight with communist rebels at Sitio Cansingi, Barangay San Jose Batuan town, about 70 kilometers northwest of this city.
Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado, citing police and military reports, said Modelo lost a lot of blood and died while being transported to the town proper.
