Catwoman (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Catwoman is a 2004 film directed by Pitof and released by Warner Brothers on July 23, 2004.
The movie was adapted by John D. Brancato, Michael Ferris and John Rogers, from a story by Theresa Rebeck, Brancato and Ferris.

Catwoman Movie Review at Hollywood Video
Catwoman is hardly a pagan or feminist movie (women are empowered to wear leather and kill people?), but it remains true to the mythology of the comic-book character, who was created by artist Bob Lane in 1940 as a foil and romantic interest for Batman (based, in part, on sexpots-du-jour Jean Harlow and Hedy Lamarr).
Ashley Judd and Gwyneth Paltrow were both on the shortlist for the title feline, but both might have succumbed to the Lee Meriweather syndrome (she was in the movie version of the TV series): though she was sexy, many considered her too wholesome for the part.
The biggest problem with Catwoman is Sharon Stone as Laurel, the long-time face of the cosmetics conglomerate (and wife of the CEO) who is cast aside in favor of a younger model when she turns forty.

Flipside Movie Emporium: Catwoman Movie Review
Catwoman is a pretty bad movie -- try to contain your surprise -- and yet, it's a listless sort of bad that defeats any efforts to really enjoy its badness.
As fans are aware, this version of Catwoman has nothing to do with the comic-book figure of the same name.
But there simply isn't much for her to work with here; she labors to unify the dual halves of her character, her costars generate little chemistry with her, and the script is so bad that it's all she can do just to maintain a straight face.

Unlike some movies that are actually supposed to be all "deep" and "masterpieces", this movie was actually interesting, not to say those aren't, but a lot of them can put people to sleep in minutes.
Patience Philips is the only character in the movie with any depth, but unfortunately she doesn't have length and width and must still suffer the shame of being uni-dimensional.
Catwoman actually breaks a scene and goes OUT OF HER WAY to say "Purr-fect" to remind us that she is, in fact, a CATwoman.

Catwoman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Catwoman, in her first appearance, wore no costume or disguise at all, and it was not until her next appearance that she donned a mask, which was a theatrically face-covering cat-mask that had the appearance of a real cat, rather than a more stylized face mask seen in her later incarnations.
Catwoman also made a small cameo in Kingdom Come, mostly accompanying the Riddler; she is predominantly seen, but not heard in the series.
Catwoman was at various times played by Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt in the live-action Batman television series of the 1960s, her first other-media portrayal.

Catwoman was such a worthy foil to the caped crusader because of her seductive influence on him (as most people will recall from the campy 1960’s TV series and 1992’s “Batman Returns”).
It doesn’t help that she disappears for more than half the movie, during which time Berry has to contend with Benjamin Bratt in a relationship that exudes zero chemistry.

This translation of Catwoman has nothing to do with the comic books, the character from Batman Returns or even the 60s TV show, to the point that creator Bob Kane must be spinning in his grave.
For this version we find that the Catwoman is a phenomena that has occurred quite often throughout history and it is all due to an Egyptian cat called Midnight (I kid you not), who finds someone who is worthy and about to die.
Catwoman is another example of why comic book movies got a bad reputation all those years ago with the Batman and Robin debacle.

 Catwoman - Movie Review
But "Catwoman" is a whole different kind of three-star movie -- one so blundering, so badly written, so ripped to shreds by the actors chewing the scenery, so pretentiously self-serious, and yet seemingly aware of its own off-the-charts camp value -- that it is wildly entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons.
Halle Berry prowls, hisses, struts and scratches her way through this lavishly over-produced riff on Batman's kinkiest nemesis, in which the title character is not a Gotham villainess but just one of a string of women throughout history given special feline powers by cats descended from ancient Egyptian animal gods.
So although it confounds me to give any movie three stars specifically for being awful, my rule for this rating is a "solid recommend," and the fact is, there's a great time to be had at "Catwoman" -- just bring lots of popcorn to throw at the screen.
