		Cazuza stormed into the studio during the program and said, "Mayor, you are lying!" According to eyewitnesses, Galindo called Cazuza "a marijuana smoker and homosexual" and added that he would have further to say to him off the air.
		In his turn, Cazuza the radio journalist became a symbol of the battle against impunity in the city in the highland sertão district of Sergipe state when he was murdered on March 13, 2000.

		Cazuza enrolled in college in 1978, but abandoned the course of journalism three weeks later to work with his father at Som Livre.
		In 1985, Cazuza took part in Rock in Rio with Barão Vermelho, and around this time, Caetano Veloso claimed he was the greatest Brazilian poet of his generation.
		It was also in this same year that Cazuza was infected with the AIDS virus, precipitating his desire to leave the band in order to obtain a greater freedom in composition and expression, both musically and lyrically.

		As a teenager Cazuza was drawn to Baixo Leblon, a bohemian section of Rio known for its artists' bars, and was an enthusiastic fan of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Rolling Stones.
		Cazuza studied journalism briefly, worked as a press agent at Som Livre and artist promotor at the RGE recording company, and studied photography for seven months at UC Berkeley, but none of this felt right to him.
		Cazuza died of AIDS in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 32 on July 7, 1990.
