In Garmisch-Partenkirchen kwam een 15-jarig Engels meisje, Cecilia Colledge, het meesterschap van Sonja Henie bedreigen.
Colledge nam wel enorme risico's maar ze was niet opgewassen tegen de grote ondervin- ding en het talent van Sonja Henie die haar derde opeenvolgende gouden medaille veroverde in het kunst- schaatsen.

Cecilia Colledge huddled near the fireplace at the Golden Arrow after a Sunday morning walk, looking across Mirror Lake and lamenting the loss of the Lake Placid Club that once dominated its eastern shore.
Along with her mother, Colledge stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn, which was owned by the Wikoff family, but said it’s hard to piece together her time in the Olympic Village.
Following her competitive career, Colledge became a coach, and even coached for about a year in Lake Placid in the early 1950s before moving to the Boston area, where she continued to coach and remain active in the sport of figure skating.
