As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 20,527, and by 2004 was estimated at 22,224.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 27.4% from 18 to 24, 22.6% from 25 to 44, 14.0% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
