Ceferino Garcia was detained in Trinidad last month for having false documents in his possession.
It was when the Attorney General’s office in Caracas was informed, that it was discovered that Garcia was wanted for the murder of Mauro Marcano, a journalist and municipal council member who was shot dead on September 1, 2005 in the northeastern city of Maturin as he left his home.
A warrant was issued for Garcia’s arrest in Caracas in 2005 when he was accused of masterminding Marcano’s murder along with five other Venezuelan suspects.
