Celebdil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Celebdil (Sindarin), also known as Zirakzigil (Khuzdul) or Silvertine is a fictional mountain from J.
In a 1968 letter, Tolkien identifies the Swiss Silberhorn as it appeared to him when camping near Mürren in 1911 as "the Silvertine (Celebdil) of my dreams".
It was a peak in the Misty Mountains, one of the three peaks (with Caradhras and Fanuidhol) that stood above the Dwarven city of Khazad-dûm.

Mountains of Moria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mountains of Moria are three mountains -- Celebdil, Caradhras and Fanuidhol -- in J.
They form part of the Misty Mountains, beneath which Khazad-dûm was delved by the Dwarves.
The main body of their city, which was later called Moria, seems to have been beneath Celebdil, which they called Zirakzigil, and which was crowned by Durin's Tower.

Inside Celebdil, the Dwarves built the Endless Stair, from the foundations of the mountain to the top of it.

Another 120 miles further south at the east side of the mountains, below the peak of Celebdil, Fanuidhol and Caradhras was Mirrormere in Dimrill Dale with river Celebrant and its tributary Nimrodel running towards Anduin passing, and as the southern boundry of, Lórien.

The wizard hew the bridge under him asunder with a thrust of his staff, warded off the blows of the Balrog's blade of leaping fire and fell to the deepest ground at the very bones of the earth, all the while clutching with the Balrog.
From there their fight continued to the top of the Celebdil, from where the Balrog crashed to his doom onto the mountainside.
All the literary and mythological importance of the Balrogs, however, cannot be compared with the debates they created among Tolkien's readers.

Over the course of the successive millenia, Khazad-dûm expanded in many storeys almost over the whole massif of the mountains Celebdil, Caradhras and Fanuidhol.
Khazad-dûm florished especially in the Second Age, when many dwarves left the destroyed cities of Nogrod and Belegost and came to the home of Durin's Folk.

Because of this discovery, the Noldor became even more amicable towards the dwarves, and founded the great city of Ost-in-Edhil at the meeting of Sirannon and Glanduin.
