Carnival Cruise Line reported an increase in the number of cases of gastrointestinal (GI) illness on the cruise ship Celebration, which sailed from Galveston, Texas, on February 9, 2004.
EST on February 13, the ship’s medical staff reported that 297 of 1,576 (18.84%) passengers and 19 of 689 (2.75%) crew members were ill. Predominant symptoms were vomiting and diarrhea.
Crew of the Celebration Carnival Cruise Ship conducted extensive cleaning and disinfection of the vessel.

When first introduced, Carnival's chairman called Celebration, and her sisters Holiday and Jubilee (which no longer sails for Carnival), "Disney World for adults." From dawn till the wee hours there is activity aboard these Carnival sister ships.
Celebration is for those who want the most active cruise experience (yet I've always found quiet nooks for reading or just watching the sea go by).
Celebration's staff is efficient and friendly; expect antics by your waiter at dinner, and to return to your cabin to find a towel shaped like an animal.

The Celebration is NOT an attractive ship; in fact, it reminded me of a large bowling alley...
Although the ship is about 11 years old, most of it was in great condition, and it was continuously being vacuumed, polished, etc. While the Celebration is one of Carnival's smaller ships, I found it to be the perfect size.
While the casino is much smaller than on the newer ships, it was large enough, with lots of nickel and quarter slots, and with fljack tables starting at $3.

The Vista Dining Room in the aft of the ship had its early seating at 5:45 pm and its late seating at 8 pm.
The Horizon Dining Room in the center of the ship had its early seating at 6:15 pm and its late seating at 8:30 pm.
Getting off of the ship could not have gone any easier and we were cleared by immigration and off the ship by 9:15 am.

It seems that on most ships, the ship is a ghost-town until well after sailing.
Steve Cassell was the cruise director on the Celebration in 1989 when we first sailed this ship, and according to some notes I have seen on $P$, he has since been on some other Carnival ships, but he was back, as of our trip.
The decor on the Celebration class ships, while it cannot be called muted, cannot be compared to the larger Fantasy class ships, with their 8 story neon atriums.

When passengers got off of Celebration, some were not to happy.
As of right now, the ship is scheduled to set sail on its next voyage at 4 Thursday afternoon.

One of the most disturbing things that happened on the Carnival Celebration was the fact that the ship BOUNCED the entire time it was at sea.
Later, I found another passenger that said he finally heard from a crew member that the ship needed to repair a bent drive shaft, but to do so would mean to dry-dock it, and they couldn't do that.
They also stacked up all of their pool lounge chairs every night, so if you felt like going out on deck at night to look at the stars, you had to stand, because there were no chairs.

Docking in Veracruz, the ship was incredibly noisy and lots of movement.
Sunday night, we hit really rough seas and I literally thought the Celebration was going to find her final resting place at the bottom of the Gulf.

Celebration was our 1st Carnival cruise, having only been on a Disney Magic 7 day cruise prior to going on the Celebration in March.
We were on the Celebration in Sept. 2003 and loved it.
It's a good ship and Carnival is great about keeping the "mature" ships looking as new as possible.
